The Olympic flame had gone out after just three days of the 2012 torch relay. Due to a faulty burner, the famous torch went out for the first time after staying lit for the entire airplane journey from Athens.
The Olympic torch must be suffering from the same fitness fatigue that many Olympians and gym members experience at this crucial time of year. Spring is notorious for being the time when gym goers begin to fail attending their gym so regularly, however it is probably the most important time.
With the summer almost here, we are all eager to get down to the beach to show of the slightly leaner physique that we’ve worked so hard to burn off following Christmas. However, that initial flare of inspiration after realising that the bikini will soon be emerging from the darkness of the wardrobe will quickly lose its spark, as did the Olympic torch. Too many ice-creams and drinks in the pub garden can bring that podge creeping back if you don’t stay on top of it.
After watching the New Year flood of wannabe fitness fanatics who weren’t quite determined enough, stop returning to the gym, it would be a shame to fall at the last hurdle. You’ve come this far, so don’t let your candle burn out!
The 2012 London Olympic Games are right on our doorstep to help get us motivated, so imagine you are the torch on its relay, re-light your fire and carry on working hard.
